Tips for Bringing Your New Bernedoodle Puppy Home

Bringing home a new puppy is such an exciting time, but it can also be a little overwhelming for both you and your furry friend. I’ve learned a few tricks that can make the transition smoother and help your puppy feel more comfortable in their new environment. Here are some tips that new owners have found especially helpful:

1. A Familiar Blanket

When you pick up your puppy, I’ll provide a blanket that has the scent of their mom and littermates. Puppies rely heavily on their sense of smell, and having something familiar can be incredibly comforting during those first few nights in a new place.

2. A Bandana for Drooling or Carsickness

Puppies can sometimes get carsick on the ride home. A soft bandana tied loosely around their neck can help manage any drooling and keep them comfortable. It’s also a cute keepsake to remember their first big adventure!

3. A Long-Lasting Chew Bone

I like to send puppies home with a long-lasting chew bone. Chewing is a natural stress reliever for puppies, and it can help keep them occupied during the car ride.

4. Crate Placement Tips

If you plan to use a crate for your puppy, place it in an area where they can still see and feel close to someone in the family. This can significantly reduce separation anxiety and help your puppy feel secure. For example, placing the crate in your bedroom or a common family area can provide comfort while maintaining boundaries.

5. Patience and Routine When you Bring Home Your New Puppy

Lastly, remember that patience and routine are key. Puppies thrive on structure, so try to establish a consistent schedule for feeding, potty breaks, and playtime right from the start.

These small touches and thoughtful preparations can make a big difference in your puppy’s transition. If you have any questions or concerns, I’m always here to help. Wishing you and your new furry family member all the best as you begin this exciting journey together!
